Deliveries of the new Tesla Cybertruck are well under way in the USA now, with over 12,000 cars now finding homes. This increase in production has had a knock-on effect on used values as well, with second-hand trucks now getting cheaper.

You still can’t order one outside of the USA and Canada, however people across the UK and Europe will be able to come and see this bonkers vehicle in the metal at a series of events which Tesla is calling the Cyber Odyssey.

Tesla Cybertruck used prices start to fall

It’s coming up to one year since the first Tesla Cybertruck rolled off the production line, and the enormous demand for this car meant that used prices almost immediately went through the roof.

New Tesla Cybertruck front

In the first few months there were Cybertrucks being listed for almost £150,000 ($200,000) in the states, £84,000 ($115,000) more than the cost of a new one. Some owners faced legal action from Tesla for re-selling their cars so quickly, as this was in violation of the purchase agreement.

New Tesla Cybertruck side

Well almost 12 months later the hype is starting to die down, and more than 12,000 Cybertrucks have hit the streets. The waiting time has also plummeted, with Tesla’s website saying you can have one of these trucks as early as October if you order now.

As a result, you can now buy a used Tesla Cybertruck in the USA for less than the cost of a new one for the first time, but not by much. There are currently 278 examples for sale on Autotrader in North America, and prices start from around £67,000 ($90,000) for a dual-motor truck.

That’s close to £7,500 ($10,000) cheaper than a new Cybertruck, however the tri-motor Cyberbeast is still fetching strong money. The cheapest examples are still only a few hundred pounds cheaper than a new one.

New Tesla Cybertruck prices increase after launch

Second-hand prices may have fallen, but the Tesla Cybertruck is now more expensive to buy new than it was at launch.

Prices for a dual-motor Cybertruck now start from just under £75,000 ($100,000), an increase of £8,000 compared to the original figure. The Cyberbeast will set you back £90,000 ($120,000), which is another £8,000 jump.

A cheaper rear-wheel drive model was promised at launch which is due to go on sale in 2025, although this option has since vanished from Tesla’s website. It’s due to start from £50,000 ($61,000), although there’s a chance it could now go up to around £60,000 in line with this price increase.

Can I get a Tesla Cybertruck in the UK?

For now, no you can’t. Tesla removed the option to pre-order a Cybertruck in the UK and Europe well over a year ago, and there’s no sign of this rolling axe head making an appearance on our streets anytime soon.

New Tesla Cybertruck bonnet

That controversial design is a big reason the Cybertruck is unlikely to go on sale here. Not because people don’t like how it looks, but because the sharp angles and blunt front end won’t meet European crash regulations.

New Tesla Cybertruck rear

Earlier this year Tesla did tour a Cybertruck around the UK and Ireland to give fans a glimpse of this futuristic pickup truck, however there were no opportunities to drive it. No doubt some Tesla mega-fan will find a way to import one at some point, but there will be a lot of hoops to jump through before it’ll be road legal.

New Tesla Cybertruck design: what’s changed since 2019?

It’s hard to believe that it’s been almost five years since Elon Musk first pulled the covers off the Tesla Cybertruck concept, and now the car is finally here we can take a look at how many of the brand’s promises for this electric truck have been fulfilled.

It may come as a surprise to see that the insane design has made it onto the road more or less unscathed. It still looks like a piece of stainless steel origami, and those body panels are actually bulletproof. The production car has the same slim LED light bar as the concept, although the main beams are very well-hidden in the lower bumper. Speaking of the front bumper, it’s slightly larger and lower than the original design, likely to conform to crash regulations.

Things remain just as angular down the side, with this silhouette making the Cybertruck look a bit like an axe head on wheels. Speaking of the wheels they’re 20-inches in diameter, although they look smaller than this thanks to the gigantic tyres, and the aero wheel covers look exactly the same as the concept’s. All Cybertrucks will be delivered in this bare metal finish, although Tesla has just launched two wrap options which you can have fitted at a dealer for $6,500 (just over £5,000). There are just two to choose from though: matte black or white.

The rear end is just as unique as the rest of the truck, with just the lower bumper being tweaked over the concept. Tesla has also integrated the charging port into the black plastic wheel arch, as opposed to the one you see cut into the bodywork on the concept.
