Audi small cars Discover the Audi hatchback range and compare new, used and leasing deals

Audi has one of the broadest and most diverse line-ups of any car maker, including several small but premium cars. There’s a choice of hatchbacks, SUVs, and even small saloons. Prices are relatively high, but that’s to be expected with an upmarket badge – Audi cars are usually priced competitively compared with the equivalent BMW and Mercedes.

Audi small car range: current models

Understated and upmarket, small Audis make an impression without shouting too loudly.

Audi A1 Sportback

The A1 Sportback is a very practical car for its size, with a wide choice of efficient petrol engines. There’s no full hybrid or electric model, though, and the A1 looks a bit tame next to a Mini.

Audi A3 Sportback

If you need a bigger car than the A1 Sportback but still want something compact and easy to park, look at the A3 Sportback. This Golf-sized hatchback is an upmarket alternative to models like the Ford Focus and Volkswagen Golf. It looks good inside and out with superb build quality.

Audi S3 Sportback

The S3 Sportback is the performance version of the A3. Think of it as a hot hatch all dressed up for a night out somewhere swanky. It’s not as raw and exciting as some alternatives, though.

Audi S3 Saloon

The S3 Saloon is the four-door version of the S3 Sportback. Perhaps surprisingly for a saloon, it actually has slightly more luggage space and a little more rear legroom than the hatch. It’s comfortable and quick but optional extras are expensive.

Small, but not tiny. It’s a similar size to the BMW X1 and the Mercedes GLA. Although it’s quite compact it’s big enough to make a practical family car. Some alternatives offer similar space at a lower price, though.
TYes, by SUV standards the Audi Q2 is a small car. It’s smaller than the Audi Q3, but just as stylish. If you are thinking of buying an Audi Q2, you might also want to consider the Mini Countryman or Volkswagen T-Roc.
Most Audi hatchbacks make good buys. Our pick of the range is the Audi S3 Sportback, with a wowscore of 8/10. If you don’t want or need hot-hatch performance, look at the regular A3 Sportback.
