- New Ami Buggy concept also on show
The new Citroen Ami has been revealed at the 2024 Paris Motor Show. Scheduled for release in early 2025, the new all-electric quadricycle shares much of its mechanical make-up with the current model, though there have been some styling tweaks.
A rugged new Ami Buggy concept has also been shown off, complete with light bar and surfboard accessory.
What’s new with the Citroen Ami?
Details are thin on the ground, but it appears that the new Citroen Ami shares much of its structure with the outgoing model, as it shares the same dimensions. It’s likely, therefore, that it also retains the same 8hp electric motor and 47-mile range between charges.
However, what has changed is the exterior design. You still get the quirky symmetrical body panels, but the headlights and taillights now sit in black housings that sit proud of the bodywork, a bit higher than the old ones, which were embedded into the bodywork. There are fewer curved edges, replaced by lots of sharp creases.
The side profile appears to be identical to the old one, save for a new alloy wheel design and new graphics for the rear pillar. The wheel arches look a bit more flared, too.
Inside it all looks to have been carried over from before, with two simple seats and a basic dashboard that can be customised with accessories to improve practicality. The centre of the steering wheel has been redesigned to accommodate Citroen’s new logo, though.
Citroen Ami Buggy concept
Alongside the updated Citroen Ami is a new Buggy version, based on the new design. It’s being referred to as a concept for now, but expect a production version to be largely identical.
Like the existing Ami Buggy it has no doors, but this concept has been built around a kite surfing theme, so it has an accessory attached where the door used to be that can hold a surfboard.
Other unique features include a Midnight Blue body colour, chunky tyres and a light bar to illuminate the road ahead when you’ve headed off the beaten track.
How much is the new Citroen Ami?
Citroen has not confirmed pricing for the new Citroen Ami, though you can expect it to start from around £8,000 when it goes on sale next year, representing a minor increase over the current model.
