Car changing is a big deal
This is your first look at the new Citroen C5 Aircross. It’s just a concept for now, but the 2025 production version will be available as both an electric car and a petrol-powered model.

- Likely to start at under £30,000
Today’s Citroen C5 Aircross has been around for a few years now, and it’s starting to look a bit dated compared to bold new offerings from Peugeot, Renault and Cupra. Thankfully, an all-new one is coming in 2025 to remedy this – and it’s been shown off at the Paris Motor Show.
It’s just a concept for now, but this is your first look at the new C5 Aircross’ design. It takes a lot of inspiration from the Oli concept we saw a couple of years ago, and it’s the first time this car will be offered with both petrol and pure electric power options.
New Citroen C5 Aircross design
The current Citroen C5 Aircross is a handsome SUV, however this new concept is much more exciting to look at. It’s certainly a bold design, taking a lot of styling cues from 2022’s Oli concept and the new C3 Aircross.
Starting up front, those angular C-Shaped headlights are becoming something of a staple across the Citroen range and this car looks a bit more angular and boxy than the one it’ll replace.
This is more apparent down the side, where you won’t find a sloping roofline like you get on the Peugeot 3008. The chunky black cladding also adds an air of ruggedness, as do the gloss black side skirts.
Moving to the rear, the tail lights are split into three slim LED strips, the highest of which protrudes quite a way out from the body. This is likely to be toned down for the production model, as having what essentially look like blades sticking out of the car won’t do much for pedestrian safety.
New Citroen C5 Aircross engines and motors
The big news under the skin of the new Citroen C5 Aircross is that it’ll share most of its parts with the Peugeot 3008, meaning this will be the first time it’s offered as an EV.
Specific stats for the Citroen are yet to be announced, however you can expect to see the Peugeot’s 73kWh battery on board providing around 320 miles of range. You could also get a 98kWh pack which will do more than 430 miles on a charge.

If you’re not ready to switch to an EV just yet, petrol and plug-in hybrid options will also be on offer. Under the bonnet you’ll almost certainly find the 1.2-litre petrol engine from the Peugeot 3008 with 136hp, as well as that car’s 1.6-litre PHEV system putting out 195hp and delivering around 40 miles of pure EV range.
New Citroen C5 Aircross price
This is just a concept car for now, however a production version of the new Citroen C5 Aircross will be unveiled in the first half of next year. The current car is one of the best-value SUVs on the market, however the all-new model is likely to be a bit more expensive. Expect a price tag of less than £30,000.
