The Citroen C5 X is a hard car to pigeonhole. Whether you see it as high-riding estate or a stretched SUV doesn’t really matter. This is a good-looking, roomy car at a very keen price.

With a car as quirky as the C5 X, it’s hard to name similar alternatives. These three are all worth considering, though.
- Cupra Formentor: Another genre-splitting car, the Cupra is much more fun to drive than the Citroen
- Peugeot 3008: Stylish inside and out, but the tech really should be easier to use
- Skoda Superb Estate: If you find the C5 X too quirky, the Superb is one of the best conventional estate cars
