Electric Cupra cars: current models

Cupra currently offers two all-electric models; the Born hatchback and the Tavascan Coupe-SUV.

Cupra Born

The Cupra Born shares a battery and body with the Volkswagen ID3, and while the Cupra is definitely sportier to look at, and has the nicer interior, you can tell the two are related, especially with the maddening infotainment touchscreen. The new VZ version has 326hp and a sharper chassis.

Cupra Tavascan

The Tavascan is mechanically similar to the Volkswagen ID4 and Audi Q4 e-tron. In fact, you could easily claim that it’s a VW that costs too much or an Audi that’s a bargain. The 77kWh battery gives a range of up to 352 miles, and there’s a four-wheel drive version with 340hp, but you’d struggle to call it properly sporty.

Cupra electric cars FAQs

Cupra has been spun-off from SEAT as a sporty and electric car brand, so it’s part of the vast Volkswagen Group. The Born is built in VW’s big electric car factory in Germany, while the Tavascan is made in China.
The Cupra Born is actually quite affordable, with prices starting from £35,000, while the Tavascan is pricier, starting at £47,000.
No. Mostly, the Formentor comes with petrol engines, but there is a plug-in hybrid model, which when fully charged, has a range of more than 70 miles (or 30 miles for the older model)..
