Honda has just unveiled two new electric cars based on the 0 Series concept from CES 2024, and these outlandish EVs will go on sale in 2026.

  • New Honda 0 Saloon and 0 SUV revealed
  • Production prototypes of the 0 Series concepts from 2024
  • Both electric cars sport a bonkers design
  • High-tech, spacious cabins
  • Self-driving features allow you to go full hands-off
  • On sale in 2026

These are the new Honda 0 Saloon and 0 SUV, two new electric cars which will go on sale in 2026. You won’t mistake these two for anything else on the road, because they both look like something straight out of a sci-fi movie.

While there are no details around batteries or range just yet, Honda has given some details about the technology which will feature on its new models – including driver assistance systems which will use AI to learn safer driving habits.

New Honda 0 Saloon and 0 SUV design

These new electric cars look very similar to the Honda 0 Series concepts we saw at CES last year. They may have been ever so slightly toned down, but both still look completely bonkers.

Honda 0 Saloon front

Let’s start with the Saloon, which has a very distinctive wedge shape. It almost looks like a slightly bloated Lamborghini Murcialago from the front, and the side profile is strange as well. It almost looks like a bubble, which will make it feel nice and airy inside.

Honda 0 SUV front

The SUV looks slightly more traditional, but it’s still a bold design. The upright front end is framed by a gloss black panel which hides the headlights and illuminated Honda logo, and it has a very boxy side profile. The rear lights which wrap around the tailgate are a neat touch, but that narrow rear window is unlikely to aid visibility.

Space is the name of the game with these two cars, because both are designed to offer maximum room for passengers and luggage. The cabin design hasn’t changed much from the concept car’s either.

You get sporty bucket seats and a steering yoke rather than a traditional wheel – both cars have steer-by-wire which reduces the steering input needed to make tight turns, like a Tesla Cybertruck. The dashboard is dominated by a huge bank of screens big enough to put Mercedes’ Hyperscreen to shame, and you get a vast glass area to let lots of light into the cabin.

Both of these 0 Series cars will feature all-new software called Asimo OS, named after the humanoid robot Honda developed in the 2000s. It will include advanced driver assistance systems and automated driving features which use AI to learn how other drivers behave on the road so it can react accordingly. Over-the-air updates will allow you to add new features to your car for years after you’ve bought it.

Level three autonomous driving is one of the features you’ll be able to improve over the air. It essentially means you can be completely hands-off and let the car do the driving for you. You’ll even be able to watch a film or join a meeting on the move.

When can I buy the new Honda 0 Saloon and 0 SUV?

Both of these cars are due to go on sale in 2026, although they’ll be given different names before then. It’s a bit early to put a price on either of these models yet, however you can expect both to push well north of £60,000.
