Honda small cars Discover the Honda hatchback range and compare new, used and leasing deals

Honda really cut its teeth on small cars. It’s no wonder - they were a natural progression from the brand’s early work in motorcycles. While Honda’s portfolio has expanded dramatically since its formative years producing kei-class cars for the Japanese market, it’s always kept a foothold in building clever small cars. The current Honda line-up includes three small cars - the Jazz and Civic hatchbacks, and the e electric car.

Honda small car range: current models

Honda currently manufactures three small car model ranges - the Jazz, the Civic, and the Honda e.

Honda Jazz

The Honda Jazz was first launched in 2001, and is now in its fourth generation. It’s a small car but with the interior space of a large one - it’s genuinely tardis-like inside, with super-clever folding seats and loads of headroom. It also gets a hybrid engine and generous equipment levels as standard.

Honda Civic

The Civic hatchback is available as either a sensible hybrid or the fire-breathing Civic Type R. Both have ample interior space with deep boots, and a beautifully-built interior with tech that isn’t flashy or glitzy - it just works.

Honda e

The Honda e is as cute as a button and in white, looks a lot like the sort of car you could imagine Apple making. The interior’s just as cool, thanks to its wood-effect trim and trio of screens spanning the full width. It’s a fully-electric car, though its short range of around 100 miles in the real world limits it to second-car duties for most.

Honda small cars FAQs

The smallest car Honda builds at the moment is the Honda e electric car, while the smallest petrol car is the Jazz. Both of these cars major on really impressive interior space for their small footprints, the Jazz especially.
The Jazz is on the larger end of what could be considered a small car. It’s about 5cm longer than a Ford Fiesta, but much taller and boxier.
The Honda CR-V is definitely not a small car - it’s a family SUV, with room for five plus luggage and coming in at more than 4.7m long.
Yes - the Jazz, Honda e, and Civic are all hatchback cars. Honda’s other cars are all SUVs, though they too have hatchback boots.
