Car changing is a big deal
This is the new Hyundai Ioniq 6 N, and it could be a Porsche Taycan 4S alternative for £30,000 less.
- New Hyundai Ioniq 6 N spotted
- The second all-electric N performance model
- More aggressive styling accompanied by a facelift
- Could have over 650hp
- Full reveal expected next year
The Hyundai Ioniq 6 N is coming, and it could be a genuine alternative to the Porsche Taycan 4S when it goes on sale next year.
If the Ioniq 5 N SUV is anything to go by, this new electric sports saloon could have over 650hp and be properly fun to drive.
New Hyundai Ioniq 6 N design
The new Hyundai Ioniq 6 N has been spotted out and about during development testing, and there are a couple of interesting things about this prototype. Not only does it have a sporty bodykit, it also appears to preview an upcoming facelift for the standard car.
Even under this wrap, you can tell that the headlights on the N are drastically different from the Ioniq 6 we know today. They appear to have a slim split design, a bit like the Hyundai Sonata sold in the United States.
Beyond the new lamps, the Ioniq 6 N has a much larger lower air intake than the standard car, as well as some chunky side skirts and bigger alloy wheels. The side profile is just as sleek as ever, although there is an unmissable protrusion at the rear.
Of course we’re talking about that fixed wing. The swan-neck struts are very Porsche-esque, as is the smaller duck-tail spoiler on the boot lid. It certainly helps this stand out as the performance variant, which is good because there’s not much else giving it away at the rear from what we can see so far.
New Hyundai Ioniq 6 N motors and performance
Details of what’s powering this new Ioniq 6 N are thin on the ground for now, but you can look at the Ioniq 5 N to get an idea of the sort of performance that will be on offer.
That car has two electric motors producing a combined 650hp, and it’ll do 0-60mph in a blistering 3.4 seconds. Seeing as the Ioniq 6 N will sit above this car in Hyundai’s range, you can expect it to have at least this much power, if not a bit more.
The main reason you’d want to own a Hyundai Ioniq 5 N is because it’s an electric car which is actually fun to drive, and a lot of this is down to the simulated gear shift technology. It does a great job of making you feel like you’re actually driving a car with a dual-clutch gearbox, although it’s not known if the Ioniq 6 will feature this technology.
When can I buy a Hyundai Ioniq 6 N?
You can expect the new Hyundai Ioniq 6 N to make its debut in 2025, possibly shortly after a facelifted version of the standard car. As for price, there’s no official word on this yet but you can get a pretty good idea by looking at the Ioniq 5 N.
That car costs over £20,000 more than the standard Ioniq 5, so by the same logic the Ioniq 6 N should cost around £70,000. That would make it around £30,000 cheaper than a Porsche Taycan 4S.
