It’ll sit alongside the existing petrol and diesel versions, and provide an alternative to the forthcoming BMW iX3.

  • Electric SUV to replace the EQC
  • Will be sold alongside the petrol-powered GLC
  • Similar design to other Mercedes EVs
  • All-new motor and battery tech
  • On sale in 2026

This is the new Mercedes GLC EV, a replacement for the aging EQC, which will go on sale in 2026. Despite the name, it won’t replace the petrol and diesel GLC, rather it will sit alongside.

The new GLC EV will serve as an alternative to cars like the new BMW iX3 – which is due to launch later this year – as well as the Audi Q6 e-tron.

New Mercedes GLC EV design

This is your best look yet at the new Mercedes GLC EV, because this prototype is wearing a rather thin disguise.

2026 Mercedes GLC front

Starting up front you have sleek new headlights which seem to mimic the ones found on the Mercedes EQE. Being an electric car, the front grille is also blanked off for better aerodynamics.

2026 Mercedes GLC side

The new GLC EV has a similar side profile to the larger EQE SUV, in that it looks a bit like a pebble worn smooth by the tide. The flush-fitting door handles are lifted straight from the rest of the Mercedes range as well.

2026 Mercedes GLC rear quarter

Moving to the rear and you can see the three-pointed star LED design in the taillights, much like the upcoming Mercedes CLA. This is about all you can see for now though.

New Mercedes GLC EV motors and batteries

The new Mercedes GLC EV won’t share any parts with the outgoing EQC, and it’s a good job as well because that car had a rather lacklustre 254 miles of range.

2026 Mercedes GLC rear

There are no exact details about motor or battery tech just yet, but the new GLC EV will use an 800 volt electrical system which should allow for some seriously fast charging speeds. Expect to see a choice of single and dual-motor options, and it’s also likely to have more than 300 miles of range.

When can I buy the new Mercedes GLC EV?

The new Mercedes GLC EV is slated for a reveal in 2026, with cars hitting UK roads by the end of next year. There’s no word on pricing just yet, but expect it to cost a fair whack more than the old EQC, which started from around £70,000.
