The new Mercedes Vision V is a bonkers luxury electric MPV – here are five cool things to note

Car changing is a big deal
This is the new Mercedes Vision V – an electric MPV which is designed to tempt A-listers away from their stretch limousines. Here are five cool features of this luxurious van.
Mercedes has revealed the Vision V show car – an electric van which is more luxurious than most saloon cars and SUVs on the market. The closest alternative to this car would be the Lexus LM, but the Vision V packs plenty of stand-out features to set it apart from the crowd. We’ve picked out five of the Vision V’s coolest features.
1. It has a 65-inch cinema screen in the back
That’s right, a 65-inch screen. The BMW i7 started the trend of massive televisions in luxury cars with its 31-inch fold-down display, and the Lexus LM has a 48-inch display in the rear. The Vision V blows both of these cars out of the water though, with a system which you’d be happy with in your living room.

Not only do you have the 65-inch screen in front of you, there’s a total of seven projectors throughout the cabin which display images on the side windows as well – making you feel more immersed in your games and movies. A 42-speaker surround sound system ties everything together.
2. Your own private lounge
Mercedes refers to the back of this car as your “private lounge”. That cinema screen which rises up from the floor also acts as a divider between you and the front seats, and there’s another way this car can separate you from the outside world.

Privacy glass is so last year, the Vision V has smart glass which can turn from clear to opaque at the touch of a button. Perfect if you want to wave to your adoring fans before taking a nap.
3. Designer chairs
The Mercedes Vision V has very unusual seats. They have tubular cushions and sit on polished aluminium bases, so they look more akin to the chairs you’ll find in a posh apartment or a trendy bar.

They can also lay flat if you need a bit of kip on the move, or you can fold out a table to turn your Vision V into a mobile office. There’s even a fragrance bottle behind the seats to further boost the ambience.
4. Keeping yourself entertained
Travelling through a new area? Well the Mercedes Vision V can tell you all about your surroundings using clever augmented-reality tech. The 65-inch screen can depict your surroundings and project additional information about things you’re passing.

If you don’t fancy learning about the new town you’re passing through, why not try some karaoke? You can turn the back of your Vision V into a karaoke bar at any time using the screens and really let your hair down to your favourite tunes.
5. Aerodynamic exterior design
That’s enough about the interior, let’s talk about the way this van looks on the outside. It’ll certainly get you noticed with that massive light-up grille, and the wrap-around rear light is a cool touch as well. These will also do a little light show for you as you lock and unlock the car.

It’s not all form and no function either, because Mercedes has worked hard to make this van as aerodynamic as possible to help with efficiency. The front and rear overhangs are short and the roofline is slightly curved towards the rear to help it slip through the air more easily.
