New MG4: carwow car of the year

The new MG4 is one of the least expensive new electric cars you can buy, yet despite this it looks great on the outside and comes with a smart interior that feels nice and solid.

It may not have the same badge kudos as the Volkswagen ID3, however the 281-mile range is impressive and you get loads of kit as standard. The MG4 really does offer fantastic value for money and that’s why it claims the 2023 car of the year award.

New Audi RS3

The Audi RS3 is an impressive hot hatch. You get a five-cylinder turbocharged engine with 400hp and 500Nm of torque, as well as Audi’s excellent Quattro all-wheel-drive system.

This gives it loads of confidence-inspiring grip on a wet country road. Sure, the new rear differential robs you of some boot space, but you won’t mind packing a bit lighter because the RS3 is such a blast to drive.

New BMW 7 Series

The new BMW 7 Series is one of the most high-tech cars released this year. You get the usual array of screens up front, as well as some beautiful materials, however it’s in the rear where things get really special. You can have a 31-inch 8K cinema screen which stretches all the way across the back seats.

It even has a 5G internet connection so you can stream movies and make video calls on the move. There’s a vast range of engine choices, including the all-electric BMW i7, and the 7 Series is more comfortable than ever.

New BMW iX

The BMW iX may have a slightly polarising design, however it showcases what SUVs of the future will look like. The ultra-modern interior is also packed with high-quality materials which look as good as they feel.

While the infotainment system could do with a few more buttons to make it easier to use, the widescreen display looks great. The iX is also comfortable, fast and even manages 340 miles of real-world range.

New BMW M240i and 2 Series Coupe

The BMW 2 Series is a great sporty coupe, especially in M240i guise. The adaptive suspension makes it comfortable and easy to drive day-to-day, while still being great fun to drive when the road gets twisty.

Rear space may be a bit tight, so passengers may be happier in an Audi RS3. However, the 2 Series is more engaging through the bends and, with a 3.0-litre straight-six in the M240i putting out 382hp, it’s no slouch either.

New Citroen C5 X

The Citroen C5 X is a smart-looking family car which stands out from the crowd, and it’s got more than just looks on its side. This is also one of the most comfortable new cars you can buy.

The seats feel like sinking into your favourite armchair, and the suspension soaks up all the bumps in the road. It’s also spacious enough for families, just keep in mind that the plug-in hybrid loses out on almost 100-litres of boot space.

New Dacia Jogger

If you need to carry seven people, but don’t want to spend a fortune on a posh SUV, the Dacia Jogger has you covered. The boxy shape means it offers loads of interior space, and that’s not the Jogger’s only party trick.

The interior feels much more expensive than the price would suggest, and higher-spec versions even get Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard. It may not be that quick, however the jogger is comfortable, economical and easy to drive.

New Honda Civic

The new Honda Civic is a great all-round family car. It’s practical, comfortable and great to drive and it’s good-looking as well. The interior is also solidly built and easy to use thanks to the use of physical knobs and buttons.

The hybrid engine makes the Civic cheap to run, and you can even run it in silent EV mode around town. You might think the fake engine noises coming through the stereo are a bit weird though, but this is a very small complaint in an otherwise fantastic family car.

New Hyundai Ioniq 5

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 may look like it’s straight out of a video game, but it’s actually one of the best all-round electric family cars you can buy. It has a smart-looking interior which offers plenty of space, and it’s packed with clever features.

You can run household appliances off of the car’s battery, like coffee machines for example, and the Ioniq 5 can even drive itself out of a tight parking space for easier entry. It may not be as fun to drive as the Kia EV6, but the Ioniq 5 is a comfortable motorway cruiser.

New Kia EV6

Love it or hate it, the Kia EV6 is definitely a striking-looking electric car. It has a smart front end, a sporty sloping roofline and a rear which isn’t too dissimilar from an Aston Martin DBX. And things get even better when you step inside.

The cabin gets a cool floating centre console and two huge screens spanning the dashboard. The EV6 also drives really well, managing to be more sporty than the Ioniq 5 while still being comfortable.

New Lamborghini Huracan STO

The Huracan STO is no “normal” Lamborghini, if there was such a thing, and not just because it looks like a spaceship. What will blow your mind is the way this race-bred supercar feels when you drive it.

It’ll do 0-60 in 3.0 seconds thanks to the 640hp V10 engine, and the suspension manages to be firm, yet subtle so you can enjoy the STO out on the road. You probably won’t want to daily drive it though, as the visibility is pretty poor, but that’s what you expect from a supercar.

New Mercedes S-Class

The S-Class is essentially Mercedes showing off all its new technology, a bit like a peacock showing off its feathers. It may look subtle and understated on the outside, but underneath lies plenty of futuristic gadgets.

The infotainment system comes packed with all the latest features, and there’s loads of lovely leather and wood around the place as well. The air suspension is also super soft for wafting around town, and the S-Class comes with a range of silky-smooth engines.

New MG 5

The MG 5 is one of the only electric estate cars on the market right now. It’s practical, affordable and easy to live with. The cabin is nice and solid, there’s loads of bot space and it’s comfortable to drive.

It may not be all that exciting to look at, but a recent facelift has improved things and there aren’t many EVs that offer this much car for so little cash. You even get plenty of standard kit, including adaptive cruise control.

New Porsche 911 GT3 RS

Just when you thought the Porsche 911 couldn’t get more extreme, the brand reveals the GT3 RS. All those vents and wings aren’t just for show, they all work together to improve aerodynamics.

The 4.0-litre naturally-aspirated flat-six also sounds fantastic, and there’s masses of grip through the corners. It may be on the pricey side at £180,000, but it’s an incredible bit of engineering.

New Porsche Taycan GTS Sport Turismo

Electric cars and driving fun don’t usually go hand-in-hand, however the Porsche Taycan GTS Sport Turismo shows that it can be done. It has dual motors producing 598hp, and it’ll do 0-60mph in 3.7 seconds.

It’s not just the outright speed that impresses though, the Taycan GTS also handles really well. Yes it’s still a heavy car, so it won’t be the most fun Porsche to drive, but you have to admire how nimble this EV is.

New Range Rover

The Range Rover has long been the go-to car for the rich and famous, and with this new model it’s easy to see why. It looks more sophisticated than ever on the outside, and the cabin is just as lovely.

It may not be quite as posh as a Bentley Bentayga, but it’s not far off. The Range Rover is also more relaxing to drive than ever, and the rear-wheel-steering makes it easy to drive in town. If that wasn’t enough, it’s also still one of the best off-roaders money can buy.

New Skoda Kodiaq

The Skoda Kodiaq has been given a few updates in 2022, and it’s now better than ever. The design may not have changed drastically, however that’s a good thing as the Kodiaq has always been a handsome SUV.

It’s a similar story inside. The cabin is as solid as ever and there’s an impressive amount of space on offer. You can comfortably fit five adults in the first two rows, and two kids can squeeze in the rearmost row without hassle.

New Volkswagen ID Buzz

The launch of the new Volkswagen ID Buzz is likely to have most family SUVs quaking in their boots. It’s not only  really cool-looking, it’s also insanely practical thanks to its boxy shape and versatile seating.

It’s not only practical though, it’s also really easy to drive thanks to the raised, van-like driving position and vast windows all around. It might not be quite as refined as an SUV, however you can forgive that when it looks this cool and offers this much space.

Carwow manufacturer of the year: Kia

Kia has been the most consistently impressive manufacturer of 2022. Its lineup of new cars cover all the most important bases, from the dinky Picanto to the bonkers 585hp EV6 GT.

There’s also the reliable Ceed hatchback, the eye-catching Sportage SUV and the all-new Niro, which looks better than ever and comes with an impressive amount of standard kit. On top of all that, you get a reassuring seven-year warranty on all cars across the range.

Carwow most anticipated new car of 2023: New Honda Civic Type R

The Honda Civic Type R is the most highly anticipated new car coming in the next year, and it’s easy to see why. The current version is a fantastic hot-hatch, and the new one will have even more power.

The all-new Type R will also be one of the last performance cars to get an old-school six-speed manual gearbox, and Honda has dialled back the boy-racer styling so you won’t be embarrassed to drive this car to work.
