New partnership brings extra peace of mind for car buyers

carwow, the new and used car marketplace, has announced a new partnership with leading vehicle data provider, MotorCheck, to provide dealers with even more peace of mind when buying stock through carwow’s stock sourcing platform.

MotorCheck maintains a database of more than 3.5m vehicles that have had previous damage history, but which may not show on traditional vehicle-history checks. In addition to damage history, carwow also receives data on a vehicle’s previous usage and will be able to confirm to dealers whether a vehicle has been used as an ex-taxi, ex-police, ex-military or ex-emergency-services vehicle.

carwow will be integrating this data into its listing approval process, ensuring that any vehicles with undesirable accident history do not make it to the platform for sale as they will be automatically removed prior to becoming a visible listing. Any vehicles with an ex-taxi, emergency service background will be clearly flagged in the platform to ensure dealers have full transparency and can bid accordingly.

James Pollard, Director – Sell My Car carwow, said: “We recognise that whilst the vast majority of direct-to-consumer purchases end up with very happy buyers and sellers, there is a small risk in paying sellers for vehicles, before the vehicle has been fully inspected in a workshop. We’re continually looking to improve our service and want to give all our customers total confidence – including dealers who source stock with us. That’s why we’re delighted to be partnering with MotorCheck. By integrating their data into our platform, we can ensure that our dealer partners have total trust in the stock going to their forecourts.”

Commenting on the partnership Shane Teskey, MotorCheck’s Co-Founder said “We’re excited to be working with carwow on this initiative and applaud their commitment to protecting trade buyers on their direct to dealer platform. MotorCheck has proven itself to be the market leader in identifying undocumented insurance write offs and we look forward to benefiting carwow dealers with our enhanced data checks over the coming months and years ahead.”

The news of the partnership comes as carwow recorded a record-breaking start to the year, having sold over £1.18bn-worth of used-stock to dealers since the company acquired used-car buying platform, Wizzle in June 2021.
