- 0-60mph in 4.0 seconds
- Up t0 348 miles of range

The new Nio ET5 Touring has been revealed, and it’s an electric estate car from China to provide an alternative to cars like the Porsche Taycan Sport Turismo and the forthcoming BMW i5 Touring.
It’s already gone on sale in mainland Europe, however it will be coming to the UK in early 2024.
New Nio ET5 Touring design
The Nio ET5 saloon has been on sale in Europe for a while now, and the front end of this estate version looks the same as that car.
You have an angular nose with slim LED headlights and no fake grille. There are just a few vents in the lower front bumper to help cool the battery. You get 19-inch alloy wheels as standard, or you can have 20-inch wheels if you want.
You have some flush-fitting door handles down the side for better aerodynamics, and there’s some chrome trim around the windows to lift things. The black side skirts give the car a more sporty look as well.
The rear of the car has something of the Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo about it, mostly thanks to the slim full-width LED light bar. There’s a black plastic lower bumper with a faux-diffuser design as well.
New Nio ET5 Touring interior and infotainment
The Centrepiece of the new Nio ET5 Touring’s cabin is a 12.8-inch portrait touchscreen which houses most of the car’s major controls. Unlike the Tesla Model 3, you do get a 10.2-inch screen in front of the steering wheel for all your driving information.
You get nice-looking sports seats as standard, and the rest of the cabin has a pretty minimalist design.
New Nio ET5 Touring motors and batteries
Powering the new Nio ET5 Touring are two electric motors with a combined 490hp. That’s enough oomph to launch it from 0-60mph in 4.0 seconds, exactly the same as the Porsche Taycan 4S Sport Turismo.
As for batteries, you have a choice of 75kWh or 100kWh units. The smaller pack will give you 270 miles of range, 12 miles less than you get from the entry-level BMW i4, but the bigger battery will give you 348 miles of range. That’s eight miles more than a Tesla Model 3 Performance.
New Nio ET5 Touring: when can I buy one?
The new Nio ET5 Touring is already on sale in mainland Europe, however this electric estate is expected to go on sale in the UK early next year.
Price-wise, it’s hard to put a number on it at this stage. In Germany, the ET5 Touring costs 59,500 Euros, around £51,000.
