Car changing is a big deal
The 2024 LA Motor Show opens its doors on 22 November, and there are a few new cars you can expect to see. Keep an eye on this page for all the latest news.
It’s almost time for the LA Motor Show, and petrolheads from all over the world will be descending on California to gawk at the latest and greatest new cars.
Kia and Hyundai will be launching all-new models, and Volkswagen will be revealing something for the American market. For all the latest news from the LA Motor Show, you’re in the right place.
New Hyundai Ioniq 9
Three years after the Hyundai SEVEN concept was revealed, the production model will break cover at the LA Motor Show. It’ll be called the Ioniq 9, and it’s essentially an all-electric alternative to the brand’s own Santa Fe seven-seat SUV.
It’ll also share a lot of parts under the skin with the Kia EV9, meaning you can expect to see the same 100kWh battery pack with around 350 miles of range. It’ll have a totally unique design though, with a more rounded appearance than the boxy EV9.
Five new Kia models coming at the LA Motor Show
Kia is going on a new car bonanza at the LA Motor Show, with five new models set to be revealed over the next week or so. One of these is likely to be the facelifted Sportage, which is looking like it’ll get similar styling treatment to the EV9 with new, upright headlamps.
Details of what the other cars will be are thin on the ground, but Kia has mentioned that there will be new electric models at the show as well. This means the new EV4 could be coming, an EV hatchback to provide an alternative to cars like the Peugeot E-308, as well as the new EV5 electric SUV.
New Volkswagen Tiguan expected for the North American market
Volkswagen is also launching a new SUV in LA, sort of. It teased the new model on social media, however it’s likely to just be the Tayron rebadged as a Tiguan for the North American market.
The USA never got the standard Tiguan, it just got the seven-seat Tiguan Allspace. It would make sense then that the Tayron would replace that car across the pond. Expect to see almost identical styling and engine options to the European-spec Tayron.
