Car changing is a big deal
The new Lamborghini Temerario Alleggerita is here; a lightweight version of the Italian supercar. But this is just the start of uprated versions of this car, with a potential SVJ version coming further down the line.
- Carwow gets up-close with new Lamborghini Temerario
- Alleggrita model is lighter and more aerodynamic
- SVJ version could come along in the future
- Design rendered with plenty of added aero
- V8 hybrid system likely to make more than 1,120hp
This is the new Lamborghini Temerario Alleggerita – or “The light one”. You can think of it as Lambo’s equivalent to Porsche’s Weissach pack; it gets plenty of carbon fibre to shave 25kg off the weight and aerodynamic tweaks to provide 67% more downforce.
The hybridised 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 puts out 920hp, and it’ll do 0-60mph in just 2.7 seconds. This is all very impressive, but it’s just the beginning for the Temerario. We’ve been chatting to some folk at Lamborghini to find out what this car is really capable of.
New Lamborghini Temerario SVJ design
While you can’t accuse the Temerario of being boring, Lamborghini is capable of creating much more wild-looking cars than this. Just look at the old Huracan Performante, or the Aventador SVJ.
It seems that Lamborghinis start out in life reasonably restrained, and then additional wings and vents sprout from various parts of the body as special edition versions are launched over time.
With this in mind, the Carwow team has had a go at imagining an SVJ version of the Temerario Alleggerita.
Starting up front, that bumper needs to be more aggressive-looking. We’ve given it a couple of nostrils in the bonnet, just like the old Aventador SVJ, as well as much larger air vents lower down.
Red accents are a given for an SVJ, so there are some highlights around the splitter and the massive new side skirts. That massive new wing would likely be active on this car as well, with flaps built in which can move around to direct airflow around the rear end.
New Lamborghini Temerario SVJ engine, power and performance
As standard, the new Temerario has a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine which is all-new and bespoke for Lamborghini. It bears no relation to the V8 you get in the Urus or the Audi RS Q8.
It puts out 800hp on its own, and then there are three electric motors – two driving the front wheels and one in the eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox to fill in the gaps when the massive turbos are spooling up – to boost it to 920hp. It also revs to an insane 10,000rpm.
Lamborghini held a press conference during the launch of the Temerario, during which the Chief Technical Officer Rouven Mohr was asked what the power ceiling of this engine was – how much power can it actually make?
He said “I cannot tell you, but it could be a four-digit number”. While he stopped short of telling us exactly how much power it can make, it looks like it’s at least 1,000hp. Factor in the 120hp hybrid system and you could be looking at a Temerario SVJ with over 1,120hp.
The standard Temerario Alleggerita can do 0-60mph in 2.7 seconds, so with all this added grunt the SVJ should be able to bring that down to below 2.5 seconds. Expect to see uprated suspension components as well to make it more agile around a track.
