The M25 is due to completely close for four days next month as improvement works at junction 10 continue. Here’s everything you need to know.

Work to improve junction 10 of the M25 is close to completion, but there are two more weekend closures of the major motorway planned in March as old bridges are demolished and removed.

The road will be closed at junction 10 from 9pm on Friday 7 March until 6am on Monday 10 March, and then again from 9pm on Friday 21 March until 6am on Monday 24 March. Thankfully, these are the last two planned closures on the M25 for this project.

The M25 saw closures for this project over three weekends in 2024, causing major headaches for people travelling through the area. You know the old saying though – you can’t make an omelette without breaking a few eggs. Jonathan Wade, National Highways’ senior project manager, explained why these closures were necessary.

“Unfortunately, it’s simply not possible to carry out this scale of infrastructure improvement, which will benefit millions of people in the long term, without there being some degree of short-term disruption.

“We have spent months planning these closures, but they will still cause significant congestion and delays, so we are asking road users to allow extra time and use alternative routes where possible. Please follow our official diversion routes and not information from satnavs.”

The official diversion r

outes haven’t been published yet, but they will be closer to the time of the closures.

The bulk of junction 10 project is still on schedule to be finished by the summer of this year, however the final completion date has been pushed back until the spring of 2026. National Highways have said that most road users won’t be affected by the delayed completion date.

Mr Wade added: “Periods of extreme weather in 2024 delayed some elements of our work but since then we’ve worked hard to recoup that time and still complete the on-road elements on schedule.”

The junction 10 scheme will introduce additional lanes where the A3 meets the M25 in order to aid traffic flow, as well as make entering and exiting the M25 easier and safer.
