Car changing is a big deal
Performance meets practicality in this upmarket 4×4. The best part? Carwow can save you a five-figure sum on the list price.
It’s not easy to build a large SUV that’s both fun to drive and comfortable. Usually, you must pick one or the other.
Somehow, BMW’s clever engineers have delivered on both counts. The X5 is exciting when the road is empty, and comfy when you’d rather just cruise.
BMW X5 deals: save up to £14,000

The BMW X5 usually starts from £70,685, but through Carwow you can get it for just over £65,000. This makes it cheaper than a Mercedes GLE by almost £10,000. It undercuts the Range Rover Sport by nearly £7,000.
The biggest savings can be found on high-performance M60i mode, with up to £14,000 off. That’s not a mistake – savings really do run into five figures on some X5 models.

Every X5 comes with a long list of standard kit. Even the basic X Line has 19-inch alloys, automatic air conditioning, heated front seats, artificial leather upholstery, LED lights, and a twin-screen digital cockpit.

Whether you choose the X Line, the sporty M Sport, or the super-fast M60i, the X5 is a superb car. It’s enjoyable to drive on all types of road, and most versions are fuel efficient considering the punch they pack. The ride is firm on the largest available alloy wheels and we’re not fans of the M50d’s fake engine noise, but you can’t really go wrong with the X5.
BMW X5 alternatives
The BMW X5 is one of the best SUVs you can buy, but these alternatives are also worth serious consideration.
- Audi Q7: The big Audi is comfy and posh, but not as fun to drive as a BMW X5.
- Mercedes GLE: The GLE is stylish and luxurious inside, but the hybrid has less boot space than other models.
- Range Rover Sport: Sporty, classy and rapid, the Range Rover Sport is a long-distance express. Just beware of the thirsty V8.
