M25 motorway to close again this weekend

Car changing is a big deal
A section of the M25 is due to completely close this weekend, and later this month, as improvement works at junction 10 moves towards completion. Here’s what you need to know.
Work to improve junction 10 of the M25 is nearing completion, but there are two more weekend closures planned this month you need to look out for as old bridges are demolished and removed.
The road will be closed at junction 10 this weekend from 9 pm on Friday, 7 March, until 6 am on Monday, 10 March, and again from 9 pm on Friday, 21 March, until 6 am on Monday, 24 March. Thankfully, these are the last two planned closures for this project.
But don’t worry – these extensive works are paying off. National Highways has said that the project has already improved driver journeys, with jet lanes now carrying traffic through the junction while avoiding traffic signals.
They have also opened the new Wisley Lane and installed several structures to provide safe passage for pedestrians, cyclists, and horse riders over the motorway.
Beyond March, the A3 will be closed in both directions between junction 10 and the Cobham Roundabout/A245 from 11–14 April.
Drivers are advised to plan ahead and allow extra time, especially concertgoers, sports fans, and holidaymakers travelling to London. So, be mindful if you’re heading to the England v Italy Six Nations match at Twickenham or to see Sabrina Carpenter at the O2 this Sunday.
Fortunately, Jonathan Wade, National Highways’ senior project manager, confirmed these are the final closures and thanked drivers for their cooperation during last year’s closures.
He also said that while some disruption is inevitable, the long-term benefits will be worth it.
Although the fundamental elements of the scheme, which affect drivers day-to-day, are expected to be completed this summer, the final project completion date has been moved to spring 2026.
But this does not mean continued heavy congestion, and, in practical terms, most road users will not be significantly affected by the project’s extended completion date.
The final completion date for the project has been extended to spring 2026 due to weather delays in 2024. But most drivers will not be significantly impacted by the extended timeline.
The junction 10 improvement scheme will increase the number of lanes to make journeys safer and improve traffic flow.
