There’s something very ‘right’ about this car’s stance – with a wheel at each corner, angular headlights and plenty of sporty-looking detailing. I’m talking, of course, about the Hyundai i10, one of the very few city cars left on the market.

For such a small car, the i10 is shockingly roomy. Storage up front is good, with plenty of places to stow smaller items – you can even fit a six-foot adult in the rear seats behind a driver of a similar size. It’s not palatial, but it’s possible, and immediately makes the i10 a much more useful small car than the Toyota Aygo X. The i10 also has a very handy 252-litre boot, which is larger than the Aygo X and only a few litres off the Kia Picanto.

Hyundai i10 deals: save over £1,900*

The Hyundai i10 usually starts from £16,100, but through Carwow you can get it for £14,909. The biggest savings can be found on the Premium model, with £1,995 off at the time of writing. You get a choice of three, all petrol, and they range from the gutless entry-level model to the really rather fun i10 N-Line, which gets a turbocharged engine and a sporty makeover. You can even have an automatic gearbox, though this is best avoided as it’s achingly slow to shift.

Kia Picanto: Looks great and has a generous boot but other cheap cars offer more metal for the money.
Toyota Aygo X: Fairly large over-the-shoulder blind spot but the faux-SUV styling works well.
Fiat 500e: Head-turning looks but the rear seats are cramped.
