This car has been around for 25 years and during that time morphed from a slightly agricultural off-roader into a proper family car. You can now get it with a Star Wars-like styling that would otherwise be a pretty dull-but-worthy SUV into something that’s actually really cool.
I’m talking, of course, about the Hyundai Santa Fe – recipient of the Car of the Year and the Family Values Award in the 2025 Carwow Car of the Year Awards. It’s futuristic but functional, with a square back that maximises the amount of interior space, and it does practicality superbly well.
Storage space, meanwhile, is virtually unparalleled with an amazing 17 cup/bottle holders in total. That may be the most on any car sold in the UK. The interior’s also quite handsome and extremely well-built. The dashboard’s seriously premium-looking with its massive curved display and everything feels plush and hardwearing.
Hyundai Santa Fe deals: save over £6,300*
The Hyundai Santa Fe usually starts from £47,890, but through Carwow you can get it for £42,858. The biggest savings can be found on the Calligraphy model, with £6,365 off at the time of writing. This model comes fully loaded with Nappa leather and there’s a black finish for the exterior trim.
The Santa Fe comes as a self-charging hybrid or a plug-in hybrid, with two or four-wheel drive. Both engines have plenty of power to cart the Hyundai’s big body around, but neither are what you’d call rapid. It’s a shame that Hyundai doesn’t offer the Santa Fe with a diesel engine, as that sort of low-down pulling power really suits a car like this.
