Vauxhall Mokka X (2016-2020) interior
You won’t be blown away by the Vauxhall Mokka X’s cabin but you get a slick infotainment system and smartphone mirroring as standard. Alternatives are more spacious, though
Style
The Vauxhall Mokka X interior is reminiscent of the Astra and comes with some chrome and glossy black trims. Even entry-level Mokkas get pleasant soft-touch plastics on the dashboard and doors and a leather-trimmed steering wheel, but a Peugeot 2008’s cabin looks nicer and feels plusher.
Entry-level cars also get a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone mirroring as standard, but it’s well worth upgrading to a Design Nav mode – they come with a larger eight-inch display and built-in satellite navigation.
All the Vauxhall Mokka X’s controls are easy to use on the move but they don’t feel quite as solid as those in a Peugeot 2008. High-spec Elite and Ultimate models come with a few extra features but partial leather seats and tinted rear windows aren’t quite enough to justify their higher asking price. You’ll still have to pay extra for a Bose stereo and a reversing camera, too.
You’d expect the high-riding Mokka X to have a spacious interior but its boot is pretty small and the back seats are a strict child-only zone

Infotainment
Even entry-level Active cars come with a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system with DAB digital radio and Bluetooth connectivity. You don’t get satellite navigation as standard but you can use Apple CarPlay or Android Auto to mirror your phone’s navigation and music streaming apps to the car’s built-in screen instead.
Upgrade to a Design Nav model and you’ll get a larger eight-inch touchscreen that looks sharper and comes with satellite navigation as standard. Its bright icons are slightly easier to read than those on the smaller seven-inch screen and you get a set of physical shortcut buttons to help you switch between key features on the move.
All models come with Vauxhall’s OnStar concierge service. This includes access to a dedicated call centre that’s ready to lend a hand in emergency situations (or if you’re having a little trouble programming your sat nav) and a WiFi hotspot so your passengers can browse the web as you drive along.
The standard Vauxhall Mokka X’s stereo isn’t anything to write home about but you can get an upgraded seven-speaker Bose unit for £595. It comes with an extra amplifier to make it both louder and clearer and a large subwoofer for some extra bass. Unfortunately, the latter takes up eight litres of space in the boot.
