Volkswagen has announced a new R-Line Plus trim for its large Touareg SUV offering customers upgraded interior equipment and new larger alloy wheels. Read on for full details of this new range-topping model.

The most obvious new feature of R-Line Plus trim are the larger 21-inch alloy wheels – the sporty bodykit and lowered suspension have been carried over from the standard R-Line trim. Despite its bulk, the additions help give the SUV a more aggressive appearance than standard models.
The R-Line’s panoramic sunroof, electric boot lid and xenon headlights are also fitted as standard but, exclusive to the R-Line Plus is Volkswagen’s new Area View system. Using a number of wide-angle cameras, a 360-degree view around the car can be displayed on the infotainment screen – this should prove especially useful when parking in tight spaces.
This new Touareg model’s interior comes as standard with new piano black trim pieces on the dashboard, centre console and around the air vents while the 14-way adjustable front seats join the rest of the interior by being trimmed in new leather upholstery.
The new Touareg R-Line Plus costs £1,160 more than the standard R-Line model yet comes with over £3,250 of extra equipment as standard. Volkswagen expects this new trim level to make up approximately half of all future Touareg sales.
The Touareg R-Line Plus is offered with a 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine with two power outputs. These are priced at £48,095 for the 201hp model and £49,895 for the 258hp version – both come with the same eight-speed automatic gearbox and four-wheel drive as standard.
