Car changing is a big deal
This is the new BMW iX, and it’s getting a mid-life update to keep it looking fresh.
- New BMW iX spotted testing
- Updated design for flagship electric SUV
- Interior updates also likely
- No word on battery or motor upgrades yet
- Debut expected by the end of the year
The BMW iX is getting a facelift to freshen things up a bit, and this Audi Q8 e-tron alternative is getting some styling tweaks to keep the electric SUV looking modern.
Not much is known about changes under the skin, however you can expect to see some new interior trims and an updated infotainment system.
New BMW iX design
The BMW iX’s styling has always been a bit polarising, but you could never call it boring. This updated version looks as though it’ll only get minor design tweaks, meaning the massive fake kidney grilles are here to stay.
The main difference you can see up front is the new headlights, which have a vertical daytime running light design similar to the one found on the new 4 Series. You can also see a new grille design poking through where the driver assistance sensors are.
There’s not much to report down the side of the new iX, with even the wheels fitted to this prototype being the same as the current car’s. It’s a similar story at the rear, however a tweaked bumper is likely to be hiding under the wrap.
New BMW iX interior and infotainment
There are no photos of the new iX’s interior just yet, however you can catch a glimpse of the cabin through the window. It doesn’t look as though much has changed, however it may get some updated infotainment software.
As is the case with most facelifts, new interior trim is likely to make an appearance here. The updated BMW 4 Series and M4 get a snazzy-looking new steering wheel, so the new iX could get similar treatment.
New BMW iX price and release date
You can expect the new BMW iX to make its debut by the end of the year, however it’s likely to come with an increased price tag. The current car starts from £71,000, so a figure of over £75,000 is a safe bet.
