Carwow’s 10 biggest YouTube videos of 2024

December 27, 2024 by

If you’re not familiar with Carwow’s YouTube channel, you really ought to go and take a look. With 9.8 million subscribers and almost 3,000 videos to go and watch, it’s the hub for all your tube-based car entertainment, information, and reviews.

This past year we’ve had some fabulous fun on the channel, as well as doing some deep dives into the best — and occasionally worst — cars on sale. The 10 videos listed below were our most-watched films uploaded in 2024. Seen them before? Why not have a bit of a comfort-viewing rewatch? Not seen them yet? Well then, you’re in for a treat…

1. Ultimate SUVs drag race – 5.9 million views

We took the ultimate SUVs, powered variously by V12 and V8 engines, and made by the likes of Land Rover, Lamborghini, Mercedes, BMW, Aston Martin, Porsche, and even Ferrari. Yes, Ferrari makes an SUV these days — it’s called the Purosangue, or ‘Pure Blood’ — but will it be the fastest? This drag race features turbos, no turbos, superchargers, plug-in hybrids, and all the red leather you can shake a stick at. Which is the quickest, though? Whichever one does, it’s all a bit hare-raising… (You’ll get that gag once you watch the video.)

2. Brabus 900 Rocket R vs 900hp AMGs: Drag Race – 5.4 million views

Brabus is probably more well-known these days for making faster versions of Smart’s electric car lineup, but the German tuning company has an astonishing history of making ballistic versions of Mercedes road cars (even Michael Schumacher owned a few) and has also turned its hand to Porsches. In this video, we pit the amazing 900hp Porsche 911 Turbo-based Brabus 900 Rocket R against the Brabus 900 Superblack — a tuned GLS SUV — and, errr, another Brabus 900 Superblack, but this one’s based on the shed-shaped G63 AMG. What’s the fastest hyper-German over 1/4 mile?

3. New Tesla Model 3 vs BYD Seal: Ultimate review! – 5.1 million views

After all that 1/4 mile SUV racing, it’s a relief to get into some proper consumer-based testing, pitching the big-selling electric Tesla Model 3 against the Chinese BYD Seal (silly name, serious car). The two cars are incredibly closely matched on price, size, space, performance, and range – but which four-door electric saloon is the best? Which has the best touchscreen? Which is the fastest? And which one should you actually buy?

4. Ferrari Purosangue vs Lamborghini Urus: Drag Race – 4.7 million views

More Ferrari versus Lamborghini action here, as the blue-bloods of the Italian supercar world take each other on with their most family-friendly vehicles. These two-tonne-plus super-SUVs go about producing their power in very different ways. The Ferrari uses a 6.5-litre V12 which is naturally aspirated — that means no turbos — and it has a massive 725hp. By contrast, the Lamborghini uses a twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8 engine with a devilish 666hp, which is (whisper it quietly) closely related to an Audi. As is the Lambo’s chassis, whereas the Ferrari lives up to its ‘Pure-Blood’ Purosangue name by using a bespoke aluminium body. Which will be the fastest down the runway, though?

5. Lamborghini Revuelto vs Ferrari SF90 vs Porsche 918: Drag Race – 4.7 million views

Right, enough SUVs — let’s get back to some proper, low-slung, wedge-shaped supercars. Scratch that; hypercars because the Lamborghini Revuelto and the Ferrari SF90 are properly in the hyper-sphere, thanks to the Lambo’s V12-hybrid 1,015hp setup and the Ferrari’s 1,000hp twin-turbo V8 hybrid. To keep them both honest, we brought along the Porsche 918, a decade old now, and still one of the fastest cars around with 887hp from its V8 hybrid engine. Which of these hip-high hybrid hypers wins the race?

6. Ferrari 296 vs McLaren 750S vs Huracan Perf vs 911 Turbo: Drag race – 4.5 million views

More hip-high action here, but we’re dropping down from hypercars to supercars — maybe even sports car depending on your point of view — as the hybrid V6 Ferrari 296 takes on the mighty McLaren 750S with its turbo V8, the Lamborghini Huracan with the last of the un-turbocharged V10s, and the giant-killing Porsche 911 Turbo, surely the dark horse of this race. You’re going to want to have the volume turned up for this one…

7. New RS7 Performance vs BMW M8 vs AMG GT63: Drag race – 4.0 million views

You can’t leave the Germans alone for five minutes without them coming up with yet another big-hitting turbo V8-engined four-door coupe, and frankly we love them for it. There’s a lot of power here as we pit the 630hp Audi RS7 against the 625hp BMW M8 Gran Coupe, and the mighty 639hp Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S Four-Door. The sheer Teutonic thunder alone is a good enough reason to watch this video, and you might be surprised as to which is the quickest…

8. New Kia EV9 review – 3.7 million views

Hang on, a Kia that’s as good as a Range Rover? That can’t be right? Click-bait, surely? Well hold on, because this is no ordinary Kia, it’s the all-electric, seven-seat EV9 which comes with a big battery for lots of range, a roomy interior, Star Trek styling on the outside, and trampolines for your head. Yes, really. Watch the video; you’ll see what we mean.

9. I drove these electric cars until they died! – 3.6 million views

One of the big worries that holds people back from buying an electric car is that they think they might run out of charge on a long journey. But what actually happens when you take an EV and drive it until the battery is truly, properly, 100% flat and dead? Well, we took the Porsche Taycan, Tesla Model 3, BMW i5, BYD Seal, Polestar 2, and Mercedes EQE to find out which one will go the furthest in real-world conditions. This test involves rain, traffic, coasting, random driveways, technical failures, and calling out the RAC…

10. 1,000hp Dodge Charger vs 1,000hp Dodge RAM: Drag race – 3.5 million views

We round out our top 10 YouTube videos of 2024 list with some pure, unadulterated, Apple Pie-eating Americana, as two four-figure horsepower Dodges take each other on down the 1/4 mile strip. Both cars are tuned to more than 1,000hp by the amazing American tuner Hennessey, but one is a gigantic pickup that’s the size of a house, and the other is a sleek four-door muscle machine that looks like a plainclothes cop car — aside from the hot-pink chin spoiler. And the fact that it says ‘Jailbreak’ on the back. Which one’s going to reach the chequered flag first?
