Kia e-Niro interior
The Kia e-Niro feels well put together with quality materials, but in terms of its looks it lacks a bit of pizazz compared with equally priced posh SUVs.
Style
The Kia e-Niro has one of the nicest interiors you’ll find in any Kia. Okay, it may fall short in terms of a premium look when compared against the likes of conventionally powered posh SUVs like the Audi Q3 or Volvo XC40, but they obviously don’t come with the high-tech electric drivetrain in the e-Niro.
There’s a lot of black in the cabin, but there are blue flashes around the air vents and a mood lighting system for the centre console which helps lift things. And all those black bits are quite nice anyway: leather, soft-touch plastics, piano black trim all combine to create a nice-to-touch, nice-to-look-at cabin.
The dashboard is dominated by an 8.0-inch touchscreen and a 7.0-inch digital display behind the steering wheel. The touchscreen combines the controls the infotainment features and the screen for the reversing camera, while the digital display has the usual speedo but also driving and battery charge information.

Infotainment
The Kia e-Niro infotainment system kicks off with an 8.0-inch touchscreen in the centre of the dashboard on 2 models. It gets DAB radio, sat-nav with European mapping and if you prefer your smartphone’s apps the e-Niro comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto with voice control.
This screen is expanded to a 10.25-inch item in 3- and 4-trimmed models, and also features Kia’s connected services.
Into your tunes? Well, the e-Niro also comes with an 8-speaker JBL Premium Sound system that is a significant step up from the standard audio system in the Niro Hybrid.
The screen is clear, and the graphics are slick but the touchscreen can be a bit fiddly to use, especially when you’re trying to use them when you’re driving, but a bank of controls underneath provide helpful shortcuts to the radio, sat-nav and the like, which helps. There’s also a wireless charging shelf for compatible mobile phones, while top-spec models feature front parking sensors and blindspot warning and rear cross-traffic alert.
