Colour guide
Metallic - Midnight black
Free
The Rio is already a fairly plain-looking car, but the addition of Midnight Black tones its styling down even further. If you pair it with some optional alloy wheels, you could argue that it looks reasonably classy, but on a shape such as this it’s toning everything down too much. You can liven it up with contrast red or silver door mirror caps and red detailing down the doors, which helps.

Solid - Zest Yellow
Free
Another Kia, another car with a bright, striking colour offered at no cost. Zest Yellow is a particularly bright shade of yellow, closer to lemon than mustard, but on the Rio’s small and relatively plain-looking body it actually works rather well, bringing some much needed character.
Special - Clear white
Free
Charging extra for such a plain, ordinary colour as this seems a bit mean, and it’s rather surprising that Kia doesn’t offer Clear White as a no-cost option for the Rio. In either case, it’s too plain a shade for a car that has rather quiet and unassuming styling, so you’re best either sticking to the free yellow, or forking out more for something a little more interesting.
Metallic - Blaze red
£495
Blaze Red is a shade brighter and redder than some of Kia’s other red paint offerings, and that brightness really works on the Rio’s shape, bringing out the body lines rather than hiding them away. It’s a strong look for the Rio, but arguably it’s no more so than the free Zest Yellow (although red is likely to find more favour at trade-in time).
Metallic - Smoky blues

Metallic - Graphite

Metallic - Satin silver
£515
Satin Silver is a somewhat plain silver, which doesn’t quite have the depth and warmth of some other metallic colours. It’s reasonably smart, though, and it does add a classy air to the Rio, but arguably it’s not really strong enough a colour to be worth the extra outlay.
