Mercedes-Benz AMG A35 Saloon (2019-2023) Review and Prices

If you love the idea of a seriously quick sports car in a more practical shape, your options aren’t limited to hot hatchbacks – there’s also the Mercedes-AMG A35 Saloon to consider. This compact four-door packs a serious punch from its 2.0-litre turbocharged engine that helps it keep pace with the likes of the Audi S3 Saloon and the BMW M240i.

From the front, this A35 Saloon looks pretty much identical to the A35 hatchback. You get the same gaping grille, narrow headlights and intake-ridden bumpers, alongside a set of large alloy wheels and powerful brakes.

Round the back, you’ll spot a pair of large (real!) exhaust pipes and some extra vents cut into the rear bumper. Unfortunately – if you like to stand out from the crowd – you can’t get the A35 hatchback’s lairy rear wing on the saloon.

The Mercedes-AMG A35 Saloon doesn’t just look slinkier than the hatchback; it’s slightly more practical, too.

Inside, however, these cars are almost identical. You get the same sporty flat-bottomed steering wheel, sports seats and dual-screen infotainment system, but boot space is slightly more generous in the saloon than in the hatchback.

So, the saloon might differ a little from the hatch at the back, but you’ll find the same 306hp engine, automatic gearbox and four-wheel-drive system under the bonnet. The saloon isn’t quite as fast as the hatchback, but it’ll still leap from 0-60mph in less than 4.8 seconds.
