There are a lot of new Chinese cars coming to the UK this year, and the Seres 3 is an electric SUV that will hit our showrooms this spring. Read on for all you need to know.

  • New Seres 3 coming to the UK this spring
  • Chinese electric SUV costs £29,995
  • Up to 205 miles of range
  • 160hp electric motor
  • Decent standard equipment
  • Clean interior design

This is the new Seres 3. Never heard of Seres? That’s because it’s an all new Chinese brand which is heading for the UK. The 3 is an electric SUV, and you’ll be able to buy one in the spring.

It costs £29,995, making it the only electric SUV which comes in at under £30,000. It may look fairly generic, but it does come with a lot of kit for the money.

New Seres 3 price and specs

You’ll be able to buy the new Seres 3 SUV in the spring this year, and there are two trim levels to choose from. The basic Active model starts from £29,995, rising to £31,995 for the Spirit.

That makes it the cheapest electric SUV on the market today, with the MG ZS EV fetching £500 more. All cars come with keyless entry and start, a reversing camera and a 10.25-inch touchscreen, while Spirit models get luxuries like heated seats, wireless phone charging and a panoramic glass roof.

New Seres 3 design

There’s nothing about the Seres 3 which sets the automotive world alight when it comes to design. There’s nothing offensive about it, but the Vauxhall Mokka Electric and Peugeot E-2008 are much more exciting to behold.

Being an electric car, the front end is blanked-off to give it a more sleek-looking design. The headlights are pretty slim and swept back as well, and all cars come with 18-inch alloy wheels as standard.

It’s not the most modern design at the rear. It looks a bit like a previous generation Kia E-Niro back there, although the roof spoiler does add a touch of sporty flair.

New Seres 3 motors and batteries

The Seres 3 has 54kWh battery giving it 205 miles of range. That’s a bit more than the 198 miles you can get out of the entry-level MG ZS EV, however that car is available as a long-range model with 273 miles of range. It’s a few thousand pounds more expensive than the Seres though.

Powering this new SUV is a 160hp electric motor driving the front wheels, and this will launch it from 0-60mph in less than 9.0 seconds. You won’t win any drag races, but that’s plenty of performance for day-to-day driving.

New Seres 3 interior and infotainment

Step inside and it looks as though the designers put a bit more effort into the cabin than they did for the exterior design. It’s a pretty sleek-looking dashboard, with a minimalist design and some posh-looking materials.

Sitting proudly atop the dashboard is a 10.25-inch touchscreen, which is ever so slightly larger than the display you get in the MG ZS EV. You also get a digital driver’s display as standard, and top-spec cars have a panoramic glass sunroof to flood the cabin with light.
