Citroen e-C3 crowned Car Of The Year by Auto Express

Car changing is a big deal
Auto Express has crowned its Car Of The Year, with the Citroen e-C3 taking home this prestigious prize.
Auto Express has published the list of winners at its annual New Car Awards, and the Citroen e-C3 electric hatchback has been crowned Car Of The Year.
Hyundai has also scooped up four prizes in various categories, and Ford has managed a clean sweep of the commercial vehicle awards – with the e-Transit Custom winning electric Van Of The Year.
The Citroen e-C3 is a great small electric car, so much so it’s been awarded Car Of The Year by Auto Express. The judges were impressed by its value for money, comfort and interior space. It’ll cost less than £22,000 when it goes on sale later this year, making it one of the cheapest electric cars you can buy outside of the Dacia Spring and Citroen Ami.
The little Citroen also took home the Supermini Of The Year award. Commenting on the e-C3’s victory, Auto Express Editor Paul Barker said: “2024 was one of the most competitive years for the New Car Awards, which makes the fact that the new Citroen C3 scooped two category wins on the way to the overall win an even more outstanding achievement.
“Citroen’s Advanced Comfort tech, applied to its suspension and the seats inside a spacious cabin, give the C3 plenty of appeal on its own. However it’s the prospect of a fully electric version, priced from less than £22,000, that cements its place at the top of a very impressive list of shortlisted cars.”
There are 25 categories in the Auto Express Awards, plus the prestigious Car Of The Year prize. Ford’s commercial vehicles have had a good run this year, with the Ranger winning pick-up of the year, the e-Transit Custom being declared electric Van Of The Year and the Van Of The Year award goes to the Transit Courier.
Another brand worthy of note is Hyundai, which has taken home four awards this year. The i10 is City Car Of The Year, Mid-sized SUV Of The Year goes to the Tucson and Small Company Car Of The Year is the Kona. The bonkers Hyundai Ioniq 5 N has also been crowned Performance Car Of The Year.
