SUVs are growing more popular by the day, so here are the 15 most anticipated new SUVs coming by 2025.

Seven of the 10 most popular cars of 2024 so far are SUVs, so it’s pretty clear that we in the UK like our jacked-up family cars. They’re also getting more stylish, more efficient and better to drive with every new model launched.

There are plenty of new SUVs coming out over the next year with a lot of different things to offer – from maximum bang for your buck to the ultimate in luxury. Here’s a preview of what you can expect by the end of 2025.

The most anticipated SUVs coming by 2025 are:

  1. Audi Q3
  2. BMW Neue Klasse X/iX3
  3. Cupra Tavascan
  4. Dacia Bigster
  5. Hyundai Ioniq 9
  6. Kia EV5
  7. Porsche Cayenne EV
  8. Range Rover EV
  9. Skoda Epiq
  10. Volkswagen T-Roc

1. Audi Q3

Today’s Q3 has been around for a while now, and Audi has been spotted testing the new one in the Arctic Circle. It looks as though it’ll get a similar design to the Q6 e-tron, with slim LED lights and a wide grille up front.

You can expect to see a similar interior layout to that car as well, as well as a range of petrol and hybrid engines. Audi has been pretty busy this year – with the Q6 e-tron and new A5 already making debuts, and the A6 e-tron due in the coming weeks. You can therefore expect the new Q3 to be unveiled in early 2025.

Can’t wait for the new Q3? The current car is still a great choice if you’re looking for a posh SUV.

2. BMW Neue Klasse X

The BMW Neue Klasse X is just a concept car, however it gives you an idea of what the next iX3 could look like. This is the first time BMW has made the X3 and iX3 distinctly different models, with the electric car taking a lot of design cues from the Neue Klasse saloon.

BMW Neue Klasse X

Exact technical details are still thin on the ground, but the Neue Klasse X will use a new generation of batteries which will be 28%more efficient than the current range of BMW EVs.

The current iX3 is still on sale for now if you don’t want to wait until 2025 to get behind the wheel of an electric BMW SUV.

3. Cupra Tavascan

It may sound a bit like a remedy for indigestion, but the Tavascan is actually Cupra’s answer to the Volkswagen ID5 and Skoda Enyaq Coupe. It’s a lot more sporty-looking than either of those cars, and it has a unique interior design as well.

Power comes courtesy of the same range of motors as the VW and the Skoda. This means the flagship has 340hp and all-wheel drive, and you can get a 286hp model with rear-wheel drive.

The Tavascan is due to go on sale in the coming months, but until then you can check out the Skoda Enyaq Coupe vRS if you’re shopping for a sporty EV.

4. Dacia Bigster

Budget brand Dacia is hard at work on a new large SUV to sit above the Duster. The new Bigster will provide a great-value alternative to cars like the Nissan X-Trail and Skoda Kodiaq, and a range of petrol and hybrid engines is expected.

New Dacia Bigster front

The Bigster concept was first revealed a few years ago now, and the rugged styling has already been translated onto the new Dacia Duster. The larger SUV has been spotted out and about during testing, and it looks like you can expect a similarly chunky design.

Sales are due to start in 2025, but until then you can check out the Kia Sorento if you’re after a big family SUV which offers great value for money.

5. Hyundai Ioniq 9

It’s been a couple of years now since the Hyundai SEVEN concept was first revealed, and the production version is getting closer to reality. This Kia EV9 alternative will be called the Ioniq 9 when it hits the streets in 2025.

It’ll also share a lot of parts under the skin with the EV9. Expect to see a 100kWh battery with over 300 miles of range, as well as a selection of single and dual-motor power options when the Ioniq 9 goes on sale next year.

Until then, check out our review of the Kia EV9. It’s a funky-looking electric SUV with six or seven seats, and it’s mechanically similar to the Ioniq 9.

6. Kia EV5

Following the recent reveal of the Kia EV3, the new EV5 is slated for a reveal in early 2025. This new electric SUV follows the same design language as the EV9 and the EV3, although there’s something a bit Volvo-esque about the rear lights.

It’ll be available with two battery options when sales kick off next year – a 64kWh pack or an 88kWh unit. The latter should be able to get almost 450 miles of range, making it one of the longest-range EVs on the market.

Rather than waiting around for the new Kia EV5 you could check out the Tesla Model Y. It’s hugely practical, packed with tech and offers great driving range.

7. Porsche Cayenne EV

An all-electric Porsche Cayenne is on the horizon, with this alternative to the BMW iX due for a reveal in 2025. It’ll be sold alongside the current petrol-powered Cayenne, which will also be enhanced for better efficiency.

The electric Cayenne will use the same collection of parts as the Audi Q6 e-tron and Porsche Macan EV, meaning you can expect to see a 100kWh battery pack with around 300 miles of range.

For a luxury electric SUV you can enjoy today, the BMW iX is worth looking at. It’s great to drive, comfortable and packed with tech.

8. Range Rover EV

Sticking with luxury SUVs for a moment, an all-electric version of the iconic Range Rover is coming in the next few months. It looks as though the standard car’s styling will survive more or less unscathed, but there will be plenty of changes under the skin.

Exactly what is powering this Volvo EX90 alternative is unconfirmed, however Range Rover has said that the performance will be similar to the V8 model. That car has 530hp and will do 0-60mph in 4.3 seconds.

If you’re looking for an alternative to this car which is available now, the Mercedes EQS SUV is a good option. It’s supremely comfortable and loaded with all the latest tech.

9. Skoda Epiq

A baby Skoda EV is on the way to provide buyers with an all-electric alternative to the brand’s own Kamiq. Called the Epiq, it’s set to be one of the best-value electric SUVs on the market with a projected starting price of around £21,300.

New Skoda Epiq

Skoda has also promised over 248 miles of range from the Epiq thanks to a 56kWh battery, and you can expect plenty of parts from the Volkswagen ID2 to be used as well. Sales will start in 2025.

For a budget-friendly EV you can drive away today, the MG4 is a great option. It undercuts alternatives by several thousand pounds, but you don’t feel short-changed in terms of standard features.

10. Volkswagen T-Roc

The current Volkswagen T-Roc is one of the most popular cars on sale in the UK, and an all-new version has been spotted out and about during development testing. It doesn’t look like the design will be radically different to the current car’s but it appears to be modernised.

New Volkswagen T-Roc

Don’t expect an all-electric version of the T-Roc to be available, that’s reserved for VW’s ID range of cars. It’s more likely to be offered with a similar range of petrol and hybrid engines as the current car.

The current Volkswagen T-Roc is still on sale in the meantime if you just can’t wait for the new one to arrive.
