Indeed, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 is one of the most striking-looking electric cars around, with a design that’s inspired by 1970s hatchbacks but with the space and practicality of a big SUV. Its interior matches the dramatic style of the outside with two big screens mounted high up on the dashboard, and a cabin that’s minimalist, but not bare – which is a neat trick.

Any driver should easily be able to get comfortable, even if the steering wheel doesn’t quite adjust as much as you might like. There’s loads of storage space for stuff up front too, from coffee cups to laptop bags.

Hyundai Ioniq 5 deals: save over £7,600*

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 usually starts from £39,910, but through Carwow you can get it for £35,998. This makes it around £9,000 cheaper than a Tesla Model Y.
