There’s nothing technically wrong with Glacier White on a Clio, and the car’s handsome lines do wear it well but it sends out one unmistakeable signal — Magaluf hire car.

Metallic - Diamond black £600

Diamond Black suffers a bit from the same problem as Shadow Grey in that it’s rather too serious-looking a colour for the Clio. It’s not that it looks bad, it’s just that it seems to be trying to be something it’s not.

Metallic - Shadow grey £600

A classy shade of metallic grey, but while the Clio looks smart enough in this shade, you could argue that it’s a car that needs a brighter and more cheerful finish. This is just a touch too serious.

Renault ID - Flame red £700

Flame Red is a touch like Iron Blue in that it really needs a bright, sunny day to ‘pop’ properly, but unlike Iron Blue it’s deep enough and rich enough to work in UK weather conditions.

Iron Blue is one of those colours that looks great under a bright, Mediterranean sun but under duller UK skies, it just looks too flat and too plain, especially for a shade that’s sold as a pricey special metallic.

Renault ID - Orange valencia £700

Here it is — the best of the Clio colours. Unlike the other special metallic colours, it’s bright enough to punch through gloomy UK light, and it shows off the Clio’s good-looking styling the best. Not cheap, but a really strong colour option.
