On the very sportiest Golf available, you’ll find 18-inch diamond-cut alloys, a special styling pack with new front and rear bumpers, matrix LED headlights and a body-coloured rear spoiler. The Black Edition is the highest-spec Golf R, and comes with standard 19-inch ‘Estoril’ alloy wheels, R styling bodykit with blacked-out trim (although ironically black paint is actually a cost option), Matrix LED headlights and tinted rear glass on the outside. Inside, you get ‘ArtVelours’ microfibre seat trim, heated leather-wrapped steering wheel, premium sports seats, ‘progressive’ steering, 12.9-inch infotainment screen with ChatGPT AI interface, digital instrument panel, wireless smartphone connection, 30-colour ambient cabin lighting, heated front seats and three-zone climate control. Assistance tech includes adaptive cruise control, selectable driving modes including a ‘drift mode’, speed limiter extended to 167mph, front and rear parking sensors, a rear-view camera, and the XDS electronic locking differential.
