The SE Family model is the best value version of the Touran, and comes with a decent amount of kit It gets the SE’s automatic emergency braking system, auto lights and wipers, air-conditioning, all-round electric windows, and front and rear parking sensors, but adds active cruise control and sat-nav. Its panoramic sunroof helps the interior feel light and airy, and you also get rear window blinds and electrically operated child locks.

SE L models are the most luxurious in the Touran range. They get chrome window surrounds and 17-inch alloy wheels. They have all the kit of SE models – including automatic emergency braking, parking sensors all round, and auto lights and wipers – plus three-zone climate control, ambient lighting and door mirrors that fold and have a puddle light. However, the plush suede-effect upholstery trim will be hard to keep clean and you don’t get a panoramic sunroof as standard.

The Match trim aims to offer decent kit at a good value price, building on the standard equipment by adding 17-inch alloy wheels, a reversing camera, easy-opening tailgate and metallic paint. You also get the Light and Sight pack which adds various features such as automatic headlights and rain sensors, as well as the Winter Pack, bringing heated front seats and windscreen washer jets.

R-Line Tourans get the sportiest looks in the range, but they’re expensive. Standard kit includes 18-inch alloy wheels, R-Line badges and model-specific front and rear bumpers. Inside, you get R-Line sports seats and stainless steel pedals. Equipment is carried over from the SE L model, so you get three-zone climate control, ambient lighting and door mirrors that fold and have a puddle light.
