Metallic - Artense grey Free

This is one of the more expensive paint option for the DS 3 and that might sound a bit surprising, as it’s basically metallic silver. It’s quite a warm, dark shade though — almost gunmetal — and it works rather nicely. Comes as standard with a contrast black roof, which helps.

Metallic - Perla nera black Free

Perla nera black is almost the default colour for the DS 3 and it really emphasises the car’s premium look. Works especially well with the optional Carat grey roof, but it is a bit of a basic choice for the car.

Metallic - Platinum grey Free

The third of the DS 3’s grey/silver paint options and to be honest it’s the weakest one — it’s just a basic dark metallic grey that doesn’t look especially thrilling. No wonder it’s cheaper than Artense or Lacquered options. A contrast black roof costs extra, here.

Solid - Bianca white Free

The DS 3 has a very distinctive look about it, with lots of chrome and contrast body trim, so it can kind of get away with Bianca white, in spite of it being a very basic, flat white. Not the most thrilling colour, but for a no-cost option it works OK.

Normally, we’re big fans of a strong fire-engine red paint option, but the DS 3’s shape just doesn’t seem to suit this Ferrari-aping shade. With such a distinctive body, it just makes the DS 3 look as if it’s trying too hard.

Metallic - Whisper purple £550

Pearl - Pearl white £750

A DS 3 in Crystal is slightly weather-dependent. Under dull skies, it looks a little too flat, even with all that pearl flake in the paint. Under a warm sun, though, it looks much nicer, with very gold under-tones that look pleasantly classy.
