Are private sellers happy with the agreed sale price of their vehicle?

At Carwow, we're always speaking to our customers and dealer partners to learn more about their challenges so we can make their lives easier with continuous product developments. We recently surveyed a number of private sellers who sold their cars to dealers via our daily auctions. Here's what we found...

When asked if they received the auction offer price at collection the results showed:

76% - Yes, I got the agreed sales price,

16% - No, the dealer reduced the price, but I thought it was fair,

8% - No, the dealer reduced the price, and I wasn't happy with the new price.

It's interesting to note that the same data showed overall satisfaction score was consistent for both sellers who received the agreed sale price (91% satisfied or very satisfied) and those who received a reduction but thought it was fair (87% satisfied or very satisfied). Only perceived unfair reductions impacted their overall happiness with the experience.

This seems to suggest that as long as you're pricing fairly and handling listing discrepancies professionally you'll end up with a happy customer and a closed sale. Win-win!
