Renault Captur vs Skoda Kamiq: Which small SUV Offers Better Value for Money?
March 21, 2025 by Jamie Edkins

The Renault Captur and Skoda Kamiq are both excellent small SUVs. They offer an ideal combination of efficiency, comfort, and practical features.
But which of these two vehicles offers better value for money? We’ve compared the most important factors – from equipment and engines to design – to help you make a decision.
Design and Comfort
The Renault Captur is a great-looking small car. The design is sporty and youthful, and if you go for the Esprit Alpine model then you get some snazzy alloy wheels and extra silver trim.

Inside, the Captur is equally stylish. The dashboard has an interesting design, and all of the materials feel nice and plush. The quality is impressive for a car at this price point.

The Skoda Kamiq is also a handsome-looking thing, but it’s not quite as stylish as the Captur. It’s a clean and simple design, but it’s unlikely to turn heads.

This theme continues on the inside. Material quality is on-par with the Captur and everything is logically laid out, it’s just not a particularly exciting cabin to look at.

Technology and Equipment
All Renault Captur models come with an impressive 10.4-inch touchscreen, and mid-spec models and up get an excellent Google-based infotainment system which is super-easy to use.
You’ll want to go for at least the mid-spec car to get the best value for money. This car comes with a 10.4-inch digital driver’s display and all-round parking sensors as standard. All cars come with cruise control though.
The Kamiq on the other hand comes with an 8.0-inch touchscreen in the basic car, but all other models have a much nicer 9.2-inch display. It’s easy to use, but it’s not as good as the Google-based system offered in the Renault.
As for other standard equipment, even the basic model gets cruise control, a digital driver’s display, a reversing camera and dual-zone air conditioning.
Engines and Driving Performance
The Renault Captur offers a choice of petrol and hybrid engines. The hybrid version is the best bet for its very low fuel consumption and is an excellent choice for town driving. The Captur is also very easy to drive in town, although it can be a bit firm over bumps.

The Kamiq is only available with petrol engines, there are no hybrid options. They are fairly economical, but the Captur hybrid is better on fuel. The Skoda is more comfortable around town though, and it’s just as easy to drive.

Interior space and practicality
The Captur is really practical, especially for a compact SUV. With a boot capacity of 422 litres, the Captur offers ample luggage space. The rear seat can also slide forward to make the boot even bigger, however legroom in the back isn’t quite as generous as in the Kamiq.
It may be better for rear seat passengers, but the Kamiq’s 400-litre boot can’t quite match the Captur’s. The back seats don’t slide either, but it’s still plenty of space for your weekly shop.
Prices and Savings
The Renault Captur starts from £21,700, however you can save an average of £3,162 when you buy through Carwow. You can also lease a Captur from around £245 per month at the time of writing. This is over 48 months with a mileage limit of 8,000 per year.
The Skoda Kamiq starts at £24,700, with average savings of £2,000 available through Carwow. It’s slightly cheaper to lease at the time of writing, with prices starting from around £236 per month over 48 months at 8,000 miles per year.
Conclusion

Both SUVs offer an excellent mix of style, comfort, and efficiency. The Renault Captur stands out with its modern design and efficient hybrid engine. It also has some great tech on board, and it offers slightly better value for money.

The Skoda Kamiq is still an excellent all-rounder, offering good practicality and a comfortable driving experience, but the Captur is a slightly better bet and therefore wins this comparison.
