Audi RS6 Avant vs Lamborghini Urus drag race
January 15, 2021 by Nick Lette van Oostvoorne
The Audi RS6 Avant might not look like it has much in common with the gargantuan Lamborghini Urus SUV, but they both share a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine. So, the only sensible thing to do is drag race them to find out which is fastest, right?
Well, Mat certainly thinks so… Tap the video to watch the race.
You probably know the Audi RS6’s performance stats off by heart by now… No? Well, it comes with a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol engine with 600hp and 800Nm of torque – impressive stats in anyone’s book.
This engine sends its power to all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic gearbox with launch control.
The Lamborghini Urus gets the same gearbox, a very similar four-wheel-drive system and the same basic 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8. Being a Lamborghini, though, means it cranks out a smidge more power than the Audi – how does 650hp sound? It tops the Audi’s torque figure, too, with its whopping 850Nm on tap.
These figures don’t tell the whole story, however, because the Lamborghini Urus is more than 100kg heavier than the Audi RS6 – it weighs in at 2,199kg compared with the Audi’s 2,075kg waistline. The Urus’s larger body means it might have a tougher time pushing through the air at high speeds than the relatively svelte Audi.
So, will the sleeker Audi have the edge, or will the hard-hitting Lamborghini pip it to the post? One final thing to note: the Urus costs a whopping £60,000 more than the Audi. But will it prove to be £60,000 faster? There’s only one way to find out… (You know what to do.)
