Which country makes the fastest posh V8 SUVs, Great Britain or Germany? Let’s find out in true carwow style, with a drag race.
Mat’s behind the wheel of the Range Rover V8 today. Under the bonnet you’ll find a 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged V8 with 530hp and 750Nm of torque.
This is paired with an eight-speed automatic gearbox that sends power to all four wheels. As for weight, the V8 Range Rover comes in at a colossal 2,510kg, thanks in part to all the wood and leather adorning the interior.
Taking on Mat in the Range Rover, we have the Audi SQ7. This has a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 with 507hp and 770Nm of torque, bolted to an eight-speed gearbox. This sends power to all four wheels. The Audi weighs in at 2,265kg.
Next up is the Bentley Bentayga. It produces 550hp and 770Nm of torque from the same 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 as the Audi, and has the same eight-speed automatic gearbox sending power to all four wheels. Surprisingly, the Bentley isn’t the heaviest car here, tipping the scales at 2,415kg.
Finally, let’s take a look at the Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 S. It’s packing a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 with 612hp and 850Nm of torque, sent to all four wheels via a nine-speed automatic gearbox. As for weight, it comes in at 2,430 kg.
So which of these luxury SUVs will come out on top? You’ll have to watch the video to find out.
