Looking for a fast SUV? Well, you’ll probably be looking at the Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 S, BMW X3M, Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio and Jaguar F-Pace SVR. But, which is the quickest in a drag race? Well, that’s the question today’s video will answer.
First-up is the Mercedes-AMG GLC 63. This jacked-up family car has a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 with 510hp and 700Nm of torque.
It has a nine-speed automatic gearbox that sends power to all four wheels with the help of a reliable launch-control system.
The AMG’s familiar foe is the latest BMW X3M. This SUV uses the same 3.0-litre twin-turbo straight-six engine as the new M3 and M4 to deliver 510hp and 650Nm of torque.
Its eight-speed automatic gearbox and four-wheel-drive system also have launch control but, in typical BMW fashion, this may need a few attempts to achieve a perfect launch.
The Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio doesn’t have launch control, and it has the smallest engine here – a relatively dinky twin-turbo 2.9-litre V6.
It matches the Mercedes and BMW’s 510hp power figure, but its 600Nm of torque puts it at a disadvantage in this company.
Finally, we come to the Jaguar F-Pace SVR. This 5.0-litre supercharged monster has the largest, most powerful engine in the race, producing 550hp and 700Nm of torque.
Its eight-speed automatic gearbox doesn’t have launch control, but like every other car in this race it does have four-wheel drive.
But, which of these four fast family SUVs will come out on top? You’ll have to watch the video to find out.
