New Audi RS4 Competition vs Audi RS7 Performance drag race: which is fastest? 

The Audi RS4 and Audi RS7 are soon to bow out and make way for new models, however they’re not going to die quietly. The RS4 Competition and RS7 Performance are the last hurrahs for each model, and as such they’ve been tweaked to improve performance.

Mat’s behind the wheel of the Audi RS4 Competition today, so he has a 2.9-litre twin-turbocharged V6 engine under the bonnet. This puts out the same 450hp and 600Nm of torque you get in the standard car, however the seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox has been tuned to help it get off the line more quickly.

The rest of the upgrades are mostly for handling, such as tweaked suspension and grippier tyres, and only 75 of these cars will ever come to the UK. As such, it wears a hefty price tag of almost £85,000.

However, it seems like a relative bargain compared to the Audi RS7 Performance. That car will set you back almost £133,000. So what do you get for the added cash? Well under the bonnet is a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine making 630hp and 850Nm of torque.

That’s 30hp more than the standard RS7 thanks to some tuned turbos, and it’s around 8kg lighter as well tipping the scales at 2,065kg. That’s still 280kg heavier than the RS4 though, and both of these cars are sporting Audi’s Quattro all-wheel drive system for added traction off the line.
