Drag race: Koenigsegg Agera RS vs Tesla Model X Plaid

There are few supercars out there which are more exotic than a Koenigsegg. Just a handful of these multi-million pound machines are sold each year, and every one of them is totally unique and built to the owner’s specifications.

The Tesla Model X on the other hand is an electric family SUV from a brand which sells millions of cars every year. Sure it has trick rear doors, but in terms of styling there’s nothing about it which screams supercar-beater. Well this Plaid model could be just that, and we’re going to find out today if it can hold its own against the Agera RS.

Koenigsegg Agera RS stats

Lurking under the Agera’s expensive carbon fibre bodywork is a 5.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 with 1,360hp and 1,570Nm of torque. This is sent to the rear wheels only, so it could be a bit lairy off the line, via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.

The acres of carbon fibre used in this car means it tips the scales at just 1,395kg, so it weighs around the same as a family hatchback. All this amazing engineering doesn’t come cheap though, because the Koenigsegg will set you back £3.5 million.

Tesla Model X Plaid stats

For 35 times less cash you can carry more than three times the amount of people in the Tesla Model X. This electric seven-seater will set you back £126,780, and for that you get three electric motors putting out 1,020hp and 1,360Nm of torque.

Unlike the Agera, this is sent to all four wheels – so the Tesla should be much easier to launch. However, it is a bit of porker, weighing in at 2,468kg.
