Drag race: New Lamborghini Revuelto vs tuned BMW M3 vs twin-turbo Audi R8
May 10, 2024 by Jamie Edkins
Mat’s chosen not to take the wheel of the Lamborghini today, opting instead for a BMW M3 Touring. Under the bonnet is a 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged straight-six engine, which doesn’t sound like much of a match for an Italian V12 on paper. Well before you jump to any conclusions, you should know that this M3 has been tuned by Tom Wrigley Performance. As a result it has 1,000hp and 1,100Nm of torque, sent to all four wheels via a tuned eight-speed automatic gearbox.
So how does that compare to the new Lamborghini Revuelto? Mounted in the middle of this car is a 6.5-litre V12 engine which is mated to three electric motors, and combined they put out 1,015hp and 1,062Nm of torque. Like the M3 the Revuelto has all-wheel drive, however it’s a bit lighter at 1,772kg compared to the BMW’s 1,865kg.
We have a third entrant today as well, and it undercuts both of these cars on price. The M3 Touring costs £135,000 after all the modifications, the Revuelto will set you back an eye-watering £450,000, but this Audi R8 costs ‘just’ £100,000. A comparative bargain. It has a 5.2-litre V10 engine which is usually naturally-aspirated, however this one has had a couple of turbos strapped to it and it now has 1,000hp and 800Nm of torque. It’s also the lightest car here at 1,560kg.
So will the Lamborghini price itself to be worth the massive price tag? Or would you be better off buying one of the other two cars and having enough left over to buy a semi-detached house? Watch the video to find out!
