Drag race: McLaren 720S vs McLaren 750S
February 09, 2024 by Jamie Edkins
Let’s start by taking a look at the 720S. It’s powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8, sending 720hp and 770Nm of torque to the rear wheels only via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. It tips the scales at 1,419kg, and it would’ve set you back £235,460 back in 2023.
As the name suggests, the new McLaren 750S puts out 750hp from its 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8, along with 800Nm of torque. It’s still rear-wheel-drive only, and it uses a similar 7-speed gearbox to the 720S. The jump in power isn’t this car’s only advantage either, because it’s also lighter at 1,389kg. It’s also a smidge cheaper than the 720S at £254,320.
So then, does newer always mean better, or does the 720S have a few tricks up its sleeve? You’ll have to watch the video to find out.
