Drag race: New Lamborghini Revuelto vs Lamborghini Aventador SVJ

August 24, 2024 by

We’ve lined up the new Lamborghini Revuelto alongside the old Lamborghini Aventador SVJ, and we’re going to find out how the “basic” version of Lambo’s new flagship gets on against one of the most extreme versions of its predecessor.

In a few years time we’ll no doubt see S, SV, and SVJ versions of the Revuelto, but for now let’s see how the first iteration gets on in a drag race.

New Lamborghini Revuelto

Powering the new Lamborghini Revuelto is a 6.5-litre naturally-aspirated V12 which is assisted by three electric motors. One of them is attached to the gearbox and boosts the engine’s performance, while the other two power the front wheels to make this car all-wheel drive.

The combined power output is 1,015hp and 1,062Nm of torque, however the addition of a hybrid powertrain has made the Revuelto a bit heavier than its predecessor at 1,772kg.

By comparison the SVJ tips the scales at 1,525kg, but it is quite a bit down on power. It also has a 6.5-litre naturally-aspirated V12, however with no electrical assistance it puts out 770hp and 720Nm of torque.

This is sent to all four wheels via a seven-speed single-clutch robotised-manual gearbox, which is quite antiquated compared to the slick-shifting eight-speed dual-clutch unit you’ll find in the Revuelto.

So this should be an interesting race where we’ll learn the importance of raw power vs less weight. Check out the video to see what happens.
