Drag race: Nissan GT-R Nismo vs Ferrari 812 Superfast
October 12, 2024 by Jamie Edkins
It’s hard to believe that it’s been over 16 years since the Nissan GT-R was first launched, and it’s still ballistically quick even by today’s standards. We’ve got hold of the last Nismo version for a drag race against something a bit more exotic, and a lot more expensive.
The Ferrari 812 Superfast is a V12 Italian thoroughbred supercar with a price tag to match, so can the humble Nissan really be a match? Let’s take a closer look at the stats.
Nissan GT-R Nismo
Under the Nissan’s bonnet is the iconic 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged V6 engine, and it puts out 600hp and 652Nm of torque. This is sent to all four wheels via a six-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
The GT-R Nismo tips the scales at 1,725kg, and back when it was new this car would set you back £125,000. This particular car is a bit special as well, but you’ll have to watch the video to find out why.
Ferrari 812 Superfast
The Ferrari is packing twice as many cylinders as the Nissan. It has a 6.5-litre naturally-aspirated V12 with 800hp and 718Nm of torque, sent to the rear wheels only via a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox.
The Ferrari is not only more powerful, it’s also lighter – tipping the scales at 1,630kg. It is double the price of the Nissan however, with this car setting you back £261,000 back when it was new.
So which will come out on top, the more Powerful Ferrari take victory? Or will the GT-R’s secret weapon be enough? Check out the video to see what happens.
