Used Vauxhall Mokka Electric pros and cons
Is a second hand Vauxhall Mokka Electric a good car?
The Vauxhall Mokka Electric is such a different car to the old, original Mokka that it’s like one of those Transformers movie sequels that seems to just forget about all the ones that came before it.
This Mokka Electric is stylish and sharp-looking on the outside, where the old Mokka was dull and boring. It’s quite nice inside too, although a bit dark and the big screens aren’t as good to use as those of some alternatives.
The Mokka Electric is also quite roomy inside, with plenty of space for four adults, although the 350 litres boot is nothing to shout about.
Although Vauxhall has recently upgraded the Mokka with a bigger battery, a 156hp motor, and a range of 250 miles, most versions on the second hand market will have the older, smaller battery, the 136hp electric motor, and a claimed range of 209 miles.
That range will fall to around 170 miles in real-world conditions, and less on cold days, but at least it charges up fairly briskly, so you should only have to stop for 30mins to get an 80% charge.
The Mokka is nice to drive, with a comfortable ride quality and surprisingly sharp steering, although it’s no hot hatch in disguise.
What to look for when buying a used Vauxhall Mokka Electric
There don’t seem to be any major faults reported for the Mokka Electric, but of course if you’re buying one second hand, you’ll want to make sure you get a full independent battery health report. There have been recalls for loose steering bolts, and faulty side airbags, so make sure those have been carried out.
Vauxhall finished in 26th place out of 32 brands in the 2024 Driver Power customer satisfaction survey, with 21% of owners reporting a fault with their cars. The Mokka finished in 34th place in the Top 50 Cars To Own list, with a below-average rating for reliability and quality.
