Drag race: Audi RS3 vs Audi S8
August 16, 2022 by carwow staff
Audi builds a wide variety of performance cars, from the RS3 to the uber-posh S8. But, which of these ends of the high-performance four-door spectrum is best? Watch this drag race to find out.
First up is the Audi RS3. It’s powered by Audi’s signature 2.5-litre turbocharged five-cylinder engine that produces 400hp and 500Nm of torque. This is sent to all four wheels through Audi’s famous quattro all-wheel-drive system with the help of a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
This car is the four-door saloon (you can also buy a five-door hot hatch) and tips the scales at 1,575kg. Parking one of these compact performance cars on your drive will set you back around £56,000.
For comparison, the S8 costs more than £100,000 and tips the scales at more than 2.2 tonnes. Powering all this additional heft down the road is a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 petrol engine that produces 571hp and 590 Nm of torque.
Like the RS3, the S8 comes with an automatic gearbox (although featuring a torque converter rather than a set of dual clutches) and four-wheel drive.
But, which of these two performance machines is quicker over the standing quarter mile? You’ll have to watch the video to find out.
