7 great alternatives to the Skoda Elroq
March 18, 2025 by Jamie Edkins

This is the new Skoda Elroq. You can think of it as being a smaller and cheaper Enyaq, and there’s a lot to like about it. The Elroq is spacious, well-equipped and competitively priced, but it’s not the most exciting-looking car in this class.

If this car doesn’t do it for you, there are loads of other electric SUVs at this price point to choose from. We’ve picked seven of the best, including a couple of tempting used cars.
The seven best Skoda Elroq alternatives are:
- Kia EV3
- Renault Scenic E-Tech
- Skoda Enyaq
- Mini Countryman Electric
- Used Audi Q4 e-tron
- Hyundai Kona Electric
- Used BMW iX
1. Kia EV3

The Kia EV3 is simply one of the best affordable electric SUVs on the market. Not only does it look great, it’s also packed with tech and lovely to drive. It’s slightly smaller than the Elroq, but it’s almost just as practical thanks to the clever packaging and it offers really good driving range.
2. Renault Scenic E-Tech

Maybe the Elroq’s styling is just a bit too vanilla for you? Well the Renault Scenic E-Tech is a fantastic-looking thing which is also stylish on the inside. It may feel a bit cheap in places, but the Scenic’s excellent Google-based infotainment system makes up for this. It’s pretty spacious as well, although the Elroq has a bigger boot.
3. Skoda Enyaq

For the same price as a top-spec Elroq, you could have a mid-range Skoda Enyaq. It’s a larger car and is therefore more practical, and it can manage the same 360 miles on a charge as the Elroq can. It may not be all that exciting to look at, but the Skoda Enyaq is a very sensible and comfortable family SUV.
4. Mini Countryman Electric

The Mini Countryman Electric is a funky-looking EV which offers bags of character. The interior looks great, and it’s pretty spacious in the back as well. It doesn’t have the best range, and it’s quite firm over bumps, but the Countryman is good fun to drive for an electric SUV and it gets plenty of standard kit.
5. Used Audi Q4 e-tron

If you’re after something a bit more premium for the same money as an Elroq, you could get a second-hand Audi Q4 e-tron. We found several 2023 examples with low miles for less than £31,000. The Q4 e-tron is relaxing to drive and offers a high-quality cabin, however some of the touch sensitive controls can be annoying to use.
6. Hyundai Kona Electric

The Hyundai Kona Electric looks like it was just sent from outer space, and the sci-fi styling gives way to a spacious and well-equipped interior. It’s also great to drive around town, although some of the assistance tech can get annoying as it beeps and bongs at you.
7. Used BMW iX

For between £30,000 and £35,000 you can find some serious bargains on the second hand market. This budget can get you a 2021 BMW iX, a car which would’ve cost you £70,000 just four years ago. The iX is supremely comfortable and has a gorgeous interior. The exterior styling may be a bit polarising, but you can’t see the Bugs Bunny teeth from behind the wheel.
